Well it seems like a long time coming... at least to us! But we finally broke ground this past month on both the pool and pool house. Here are a bunch of pictures documenting the progress. So far it's been fun and the kids have enjoyed seeing all the different trucks and equipment that go into construction. They've also really enjoyed all the DIRT!!
The yard... the way it used to be...
with 3 extra trees and a lot more grass!
Day #1... Timber!!
It was all real easy... until they dug 3 feet down that is...
Time to get out the jack hammer to break through all that rock!
Pool House Pad!
It took 16 dump trucks worth of dirt... although as you'll see, that was a bit too much!
A hole and a pile of dirt...
Heather checking things out... that pad sure is high up in the air!
Joshua's favorite part of all this is the piles of dirt...
doesn't matter which pile... any pile will do...
That pad is taller than Joshua... and the fence for that matter!
Turns out there's standing water if you dig down there far enough...
Looks to me like the pool is done! Who wants to swim first?
Joshua driving the back hoe...
Watch out!
Turns out this is a big hit, too! Good thing we're putting in a bathroom out there!
Finishing up the pool hole...
Back hoe going for a swim...
Pool House Framing... Take 1!
Turns out there's too much dirt for framing... it'll have to be moved first...
Framing the pool
Marking out steps for the slide...
Our new 250 gallon propane tank!
Rebar! These guys were good... took one day to get it done!
Rebar slide...
Starting to look like a pool!
Nothing like a little road rash from sliding down a pile of dirt in shorts!
Everybody likes to play on the pad!
Tons of fun!
Moving dirt from the pad and plumbing the pool...
Looks like a fun hot tub! Lots of bubblers!
Our two new piles of dirt... fallout from downsizing the pad.
No problem... we'll put them to good use! Just wait and see...
Here's what they shaved off on the back of the pad
Here's what they shaved off the side of the pad
Digging pipe trenches in the pad
Our sprinkler system has seen its better days
And there we are... putting the dirt piles to good use!
Able to scale tall piles of dirt in a single bound!
Plumbing complete and passed inspection!
Trenches dug for plumbing in the Pool House
Nana just had to see the piles of dirt for herself!
I think he had a little something in his shoe...
Are those pants brown or blue?
Pool House plumbing!
Mom and Emily checking things out!
We're the king and queen of the world!
Gunite!!
These guys are concrete artists!!
Now it really looks like a pool!!
Fun slide!
Those 5 posts sticking up are for barstools...
Looks AWESOME!!
Time to pour the Pool House foundation!!
That is a really big truck!!
Smoothing out the foundation...
Stamping concrete... pretty cool process... these guys run around right before the concrete dries, throw these pads down, and then jump up and down on them
